The Stories That Connect Us
This project explored intergenerational storytelling through physical and conceptual design. I was paired with Dr. Pat Polis and spent several weeks meeting with him, listening to his stories, and uncovering the moments, values, and relationships that shaped his life. Instead of centering the work on a single narrative, I translated his experiences into a series of custom matchbox designs. Each matchbox represents a meaningful story, relationship, or value that shaped his life. I selected matchboxes as the core medium to symbolize how individual moments and connections can act as sparks that influence a lifetime.
For the final installation, I designed and hand produced 20 unique matchboxes, along with an additional interactive set displayed at the show. During the exhibition I was interviewed and featured twice by Knoxville News and again by the University of Tennessee!
